Installing a mobile signal booster requires precision RF engineering. An improperly installed system can cause signal oscillation, overheat the amplifier, or fail to deliver adequate coverage. Here is how professional technicians execute a clean, high-performance installation.
Phase 1: Pre-Installation Site Survey & Spectrum Analysis
Before drilling a single hole, field engineers use handheld RF spectrum analyzers to measure outside signal strength (dBm), Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), and identify the exact bearing of nearby cellular towers for Jio, Airtel, and Vi.
Phase 2: Mounting the Outdoor Donor Antenna
The outdoor antenna (typically a directional LPDA or Yagi antenna) is mounted securely on a rigid mast at the highest accessible point. It is aimed directly toward the operator's base station tower to maximize clean signal capture while minimizing background clutter.
Phase 3: Cable Routing & Physical Isolation
High-grade 50-ohm coaxial cable (such as RG-11 or LMR-400) is routed from the outdoor antenna into the premises. Installers ensure sufficient physical distance (usually 10+ meters of horizontal or 6+ meters of vertical separation through solid concrete) between the outdoor antenna and indoor antennas to prevent feedback oscillation.
Phase 4: Indoor Antenna Positioning
Indoor ceiling dome antennas are distributed evenly across targeted living or office areas. Splitters are calibrated to balance output power evenly across all connected rooms.
Phase 5: Powering On and Calibration
The amplifier is powered on and internal attenuation controls (Automatic Gain Control) are calibrated. Technicians conduct walk tests across the entire building, verifying full signal bars, clean VoLTE voice calls, and stable internet upload/download speeds.
